Current Project

Kikuyu Constituency is an urban-rural area located 30 – 45 minutes away from the capital city, Nairobi. A booming economy and business development, Kikuyu inhabits a diverse population of people.

However There are so many children with cerebral palsy hidden at home and in desperate need of support. There are so many children lacking the basics that enable them to live a fulfilled life. There are so many families without the right support systems.

The Plate Of Life: A project providing food in special schools around Kikuyu Constituency. Our goal is “Children with different abilities go without a lot of things, they should not go without food” .Food is a daily essential and a basic right. Currently the plate of Life is in one special school. An amount of Kshs. 100 per meal inclusive of porridge feeds a child per day .

The Care Project : The project ensures support systems for the families by providing the basic essentials to take care of the child. This includes, Food stuff, diapers, household items and more.   An amount of Kshs. 1000 towards a care package for a family with a child with Cerebral Palsy / different impairment.

The inclusion project: the project focuses on awareness raising initiatives and facilitating community based rehabilitation programmes in all sectors.

The Therapy project runs every week and offers free rehabilitative therapy services and early intervention services as well as facilitating empowerment training and workshops to parents and caregivers.

In spite of the current COVID-19 pandemic, Njeri Maria Foundation would like to reassure you that we are still open and supporting families with children and adults with Cerebral Palsy and other conditions. Following the Government precautions and restrictions, we are safeguarding our staff and those we closely work with, which has resulted in changes in our activities – normal office working hours, suspension of the therapy programme, group activities and home visits.

However, we are still engaging in Awareness and Advocacy initiatives through the mainstream media and social media as well as adapting some initiatives virtually. The information and awareness packs are available to guide families with children and adults with Cerebral Palsy and the community during this time. Our support systems extend online – resources on tele-therapy, tele-counseling services, home programs are available. Since the first week of April 2020, We have been providing care packages to families with children with different abilities in dire need of support.

We are fully aware of the challenges which families with children with Cerebral Palsy and different impairments experience even in normal circumstances. Covid-19 has immensely amplified their challenges in many aspects and we are here to help.

Njeri Maria Foundation appreciates all partnerships and contributions- Kind and In-Kind to keep us going towards creating a better society for children with Cerebral Palsy and their families.
